Facebook snaps back, launches its Snapchat-type feature on Messenger globally

Facebook is launching its Snapchat clone "Messenger Day" globally.

The company announced on Thursday on its blog that it was rolling out Messenger Day to everyone using Facebook Messenger on iOS and Android. Messenger Day lets users snap pictures and video using Facebook Messenger's internal camera, and add effects such as filters, overlays, text and drawings. People can then add the content to their "Day" or include it in a conversation with friends. All posts disappear within 24 hours. (Sound familiar?)

Messenger Day had been previously tested outside the U.S., including Australia and Poland. Facebook's VP of messaging, David Marcus, said Day will probably have ads in between user posts, according to TechCrunch.

The new function is similar to other products that Facebook has rolled out on Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status. And, everything mimics Snapchat's core functions.
