Cruises from San Juan, Puerto Rico won't be resuming this week after all.
With San Juan and the surrounding area still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Maria, Royal Caribbean late Sunday canceled a sailing out of the city scheduled for Wednesday.
The three-night trip to Antigua and St. Kitts on the 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas was just announced on Thursday. It was a shortened version of a seven-night voyage to the Southern Caribbean that originally was scheduled to begin this past Saturday but postponed after Maria struck.

Royal Caribbean on Sunday also suggested the Sept. 30 departure of Adventure of the Seas from San Juan was in flux.
"Given the impact of Hurricane Maria, we understand that there is uncertainty regarding travel to the island," the line said in a travel advisory posted on its website. "We continue to monitor the recovery efforts in San Juan and will make a final decision on this sailing early next week."
Adventure of the Seas is one of two cruise ships based in San Juan at this time of year. Also sailing from the city is Carnival's 2,056-passenger Carnival Fascination. Fascination was scheduled to depart San Juan Sunday on a trip to the Southern Caribbean, but late Friday the line canceled the voyage as well as the ship's Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 departures from the city. Carnival said its terminal in San Juan sustained extensive damage from Maria that will takes weeks to repair.
In addition, three Florida-based ships that were scheduled to visit San Juan this week on Eastern Caribbean sailings have been re-routed to other ports. The vessels include Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas — the world's largest cruise ship.
A prolonged delay in San Juan's reopening as a cruise hub could have significant logistical implications for the cruise industry. The city is a popular stop for cruise ships in the winter, and its use by lines as a hub for sailings grows in the winter, too. In addition to Adventure and Fascination, ships scheduled to use San Juan as a base over the coming winter include Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas, Viking Cruises' Viking Sea and Princess Cruises' Regal Princess.
Royal Caribbean on Sunday said passengers on Wednesday's canceled sailing on Adventure will receive a full refund, and the line also is offering them a 25% future cruise credit if they book a new trip within 30 days.
Customers booked on the Sept. 30 sailing of Adventure who want to cancel the trip also can get a full refund in the form of a future cruise credit, Royal Caribbean said.
Adventure is one of the ships that Royal Caribbean sent to aid hard-hit Caribbean islands earlier this month in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
