Now the latest: animated comics for newspaper websites. This week Universal Press Syndicate announced a partnership with Deviant Films to offer these daily animated shorts. The papers are hoping to use these shorts to lure a younger audience familiar with web videos, but not so familiar with newspapers.
As a kid I used to love stealing the "funny pages" to read curled up in a sunny corner of the living room. You certainly can't achieve that kind of tactile experience, but when it comes to the struggle to compete in the digital age, this step is better than nothing.
