Wolfgang Schäfer, Continental

Wolfgang Schäfer is the CFO of Continental AG. He was appointed to this role by the international automotive supplier, tire manufacturer, and industrial partner at the beginning of 2010.

Born in Hagen, Germany, in 1959, he studied Business Administration from 1978 to 1983 at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France, in 1987.

From 1984 to 1986, Schäfer completed an international trainee program at Robert Bosch GmbH and subsequently worked as an assistant to the management in the Power Tools division. Between 1988 and 1989, Schäfer worked as a consultant and team leader at Bain & Co. in Munich. He then returned to the business world, heading the Finance and Controlling departments at Westig GmbH from 1990 to 1995. For the following six years, Schäfer was an Executive Board member and CFO of Vorwerk Elektrowerke Stiftung. In 2001, Schäfer decided to return to the automotive industry, where he became CFO of automotive supplier Behr. From 2005, he also headed all of Behr Deutschland's activities in Germany in his capacity as CEO.
