The offer mentioned below for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is no longer available.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card's (see rates and fees) best-ever 100K point bonus is ending soon.
With 100,000 bonus points, worth roughly $2,000 in travel based on common Chase point valuations, this is one of the richest welcome offers currently available. The Sapphire Preferred has only offered this bonus twice before, and this window is closing soon. The welcome offer ends at 3 PM EST on July 30, 2026.
A 100,000-point welcome bonus on a card with a sub-$100 annual fee is rare, and the Sapphire Preferred continues to provide value long after you've earned the bonus. Here's why you should apply now.

Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus eligibility
To earn the Sapphire Preferred's 100,000-point bonus, new cardholders have to spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months.
You're generally eligible for this bonus if you've never earned a welcome bonus on the Sapphire Preferred before. Last year, Chase updated its bonus language, making eligibility essentially once per lifetime for each Sapphire card. You'll also need to satisfy Chase's unofficial 5/24 rule, meaning you've opened five or more personal credit cards (from any issuer) in the past 24 months. And while Chase doesn't publish a minimum credit score requirement, applicants typically have good to excellent credit (670 or higher).

4 reasons to apply now
The Sapphire Preferred packs a long list of perks into its $95 annual fee. Combined with the limited-time 100,000-point welcome offer, now is one of the best times to apply. Here are four reasons why.
1. Sapphire Preferred recently added more value
In June 2026, the Sapphire Preferred received several enhancements, including new bonus rewards categories, higher statement credits and additional travel benefits.
Cardholders now earn 3X points on gas and EV charging and 3X points on vacation home rentals. Chase also doubled the annual Chase Travel hotel credit from $50 to $100 and added a credit of up to $120 for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS. Through Dec. 31, 2026, eligible cardholders can also receive a complimentary year of Apple TV.
Better yet, redeeming the full $100 Chase Travel hotel credit can offset the card's $95 annual fee on its own.
2. Chase points are among the most valuable rewards around
Chase Ultimate Rewards® points are widely considered some of the most valuable credit card rewards because of their flexibility and redemption potential.
You can redeem points for cash back, gift cards and travel, but they often deliver the most value when used for eligible travel bookings or transferred to one of Chase's airline and hotel partners. With the Sapphire Preferred, Point Boost-eligible travel can provide up to 1.5 cents per point in value, while transfers to travel partners can be worth even more.
If you also carry another Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards points, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (see rates and fees), you can combine your points into a single account, making it even easier to maximize their value.

3. It rewards many everyday purchases
The Sapphire Preferred's recent refresh expanded its already strong rewards lineup, adding 3X points on gas and EV charging and 3X points on vacation home rentals.
Cardholders earn:
- 5X on travel purchased through Chase Travel
- 3X on dining, select streaming services, online grocery purchases, vacation home rentals and gas and EV charging
- 2X on all other travel purchases
- 1X on all other purchases
With bonus rewards spanning dining, travel, gas, streaming and online groceries, the Sapphire Preferred makes it easy to earn extra points on many purchases you already make. Even recurring expenses like streaming subscriptions can help you steadily build your Ultimate Rewards balance.
4. It includes travel protections typically found on pricier cards
Beyond its rewards, the Sapphire Preferred includes travel protections that can save you money when trips don't go as planned, benefits often associated with cards that charge much higher annual fees.
Highlights include:
- Primary rental car coverage (in the U.S. and abroad, with some exceptions)
- Trip cancellation and interruption insurance
- Trip delay reimbursement
- Baggage delay insurance and lost luggage reimbursement
- Purchase protection and extended warranty coverage
While you may never need these benefits, they can provide valuable peace of mind when you travel. Primary rental car coverage is particularly noteworthy, since it's less common on cards with a $95 annual fee and can help you avoid filing a claim with your personal auto insurer after a covered rental car incident. Plus, purchase protection covers a new item against damage or theft.
Alternative travel credit cards with no annual fee
If you'd rather avoid paying an annual fee, there are still a few solid travel rewards cards to consider, though they generally offer fewer perks than the Sapphire Preferred.
One option is the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, which earns 1.25X miles on every purchase and 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. Like the Sapphire Preferred, it also lets you transfer rewards to a number of airline and hotel loyalty programs, including JetBlue and Air Canada.
The VentureOne also has a more accessible welcome offer, allowing new cardholders to earn 20,000 bonus miles after spending just $500 in the first three months.
Another no-annual-fee option is the Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card, which earns 1.5 points per dollar on every purchase. Cardholders enrolled in the Bank of America Preferred Rewards® program can earn a 10% to 75% rewards bonus, depending on their tier.
New cardholders can also earn 25,000 online bonus points after spending at least $1,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.
The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card earns transferable miles, which is a stand-out benefit for a no-annual-fee card. Not only is it great for earning travel rewards, but you'll also receive an intro APR for purchases and balance transfers for more than a year.
- You can transfer miles to all of Capital One's travel partners
- No foreign transaction fees
- No annual fee
- Limited bonus spending categories only apply to certain Capital One Travel bookings
- No travel credits
- Limited travel protections
